Bijzonderheden	To commemorate the capture by Austro-Hungarian forces of the key Montenegrin position of Mount Lovchen (or Lovcen, known as 'the Gibraltar of the Adriatic') and pays formal tribute to the part played by General Hermann von Kövess and his Third Army (part of Army Group Mackensen). Following the conquest of Serbia at the end of 1915, Austria-Hungary attacked Serbia's neighbour and ally Montenegro on 8 January 1916. The Montenegrins retreated to their capital, Cetinje, which was subsequently captured by the Austrians. The text on the column on the reverse design of the medal is translated as - 'Storming of Lovchen'. Montenegro formally surrendered on 17 January 1916
